Announcements

4th of July Weekend and Safety

7/1/2022

On the morning of the 4th, we will have additional officers
working that are assigned to monitor south city limits, such as the Cays,
Military Housing, beaches, and parks. Part of their responsibilities will be
preventing motor homes from staging on SR-75 before State Beach opens its gates.
Our officers will move any motor home to a predesignated staging area on
Coronado Cays Blvd against the northwest wall, butting up to SR-75. As you know
from past years, we have used Coronado Cays Blvd. as a staging area to prevent
traffic hazards or serious traffic collisions with parked vehicles on SR-75.

Our officers will also monitor any vehicle (motor home) in the
staging area for noise violations or generators running throughout the
night/early morning. We also increased our staffing for all the special events
throughout this long weekend and have officers assigned to monitor parks and
beaches. During the fireworks, we post officers to the south city, specifically
in the area of the Cays, since there will be an increase in traffic once the
fireworks are over.

State Beach will open its parking lots at 0600 hours on the 4th,
and their officers will be monitoring the entrance to State Beach. Once their
parking lot is full, State Beach staff will close their lots and maintain a
presence at the entrance. Additionally, our officers and State Beach officers
will maintain a presence in and around the parks and beaches in the south city
limits.

If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to
contact the CPD non-emergency phone line, 619-522-7350. Enjoy the weekend, and Happy 4th.

Sincerely,

Mark Harris
Field Services Lieutenant | Coronado Police Department
