Mardi Gras Village Newsletter - August 2018

8/7/2018
Good afternoon Mardi Gras Homeowner’s and Residents, Mardi Gras Village

MARDI GRAS/PORT ROYALE GET TOGETHER

I want to offer a big “thank you” to Herlinda and Chris Ryan plus children, Nick and Marbella, and Lisa and Curt Storey. They put in a lot of work organizing and cooking. Of course it was quite delightful that all of you brought some pretty spectacular food varieties. In addition, it is always pleasant to meet some of our new neighbors and see folks from Port Royale.

SEAWALL

The seawall stabilization project is scheduled to begin on Wednesday August 8th  at 8:00 AM. Habour Constructors will be installing only 5 test anchors at first. Spacing will be approximately 100 feet between each anchor. They will install the anchors and measure/monitor the torque capacity over several days. Once they have this data it goes back to engineering for final load calculations, anchor spacing and number of anchors needed to achieve the desired torque capacity. After they have this data calculated, plans will be submitted to the City for final approval, followed by the installation of the recommended amount of anchors.

GROUNDS

Park West has started working on the grounds. It will take them a very short time to get all of the systems in place. If you have concerns or work type orders please call the CCHOA office and let them know. If you have problems please let me know.

INVESTMENTS

Currently the Finance Committee and CCHOA Board are carefully watching the types of investments available to your Homeowner’s Association, checking for the best, secure rates available. The current investment philosophy is utilizing a short term investment policy until rates stabilize. This includes CDs and T-Bills maturing in one year or less. The Finance Committee meets every three months or sooner, and the dates are posted on the website calendar. Homeowners are always invited to attend these meetings and the CCHOA Board meetings.

PARKING

Please remember that parking is limited in Mardi Gras. Your vehicle should be moved every 90 hours. If you plan to be out of town and cannot put you vehicle in the garage you might ask a neighbor to move it for you. Please remember that you can park on Mardi Gras Blvd, but the City has a 72 hour parking limit. In addition while parked in Mardi Gras vehicles do need to have a current vehicle registration displayed.

HOMEOWNER’S ANNUAL MEETING

The 47th Annual Homeowners meeting will be held on Thursday, August 23, 2018, with registration starting at 4:00pm, the actual meeting starting at 4:30pm and the reception starting around 5:30pm. It is always nice to get a quorum to either send their cards in or attend. Mardi Gras is not a voting Village this year. All Directors are elected every two years and Mardi Gras’ election will be next year.

CONCLUSION

As always I welcome the opportunity to improve our homes and the surrounding grounds, while not deferring maintenance yet attempting to get the best value for our annual dues. At times holding expenses down can be challenging for the personnel in the HOA office and our maintenance division. They continue to receive the best proposals for work that seems to be available. Remember, if at any time you have ideas on how to improve our Village please let me know. I continue to believe that we live in a terrific location and certainly hope to keep it that way.

If you have neighbors that did not receive this email please have them contact me. If you no longer live here and I have not eliminated your name please let me know.
